Lassie is a sweet, smart girl! She came to BARCS as a stray, and her finder described her as very friendly but a little shy. At the shelter, Lassie shows how smart she is! She is very attentive to her handler, pausing to look up constantly on the walk - if you pause or stop, she immediately stops and will even sit on her own at times. She “sits” on command 100% of the time and will patiently hold position. She is very friendly and engaging. She has the cutest one ear up and one ear down. She is very eager to learn, she is highly treat motivated & just so engaged with you. She likes pets, and treats even more.
Lassie spent some time in her foster home during the recent snowstorm and proved to be a playful, energetic, and sweet pup with a lot of potential! She absolutely loves playing fetch, running around, and going for walks. Whether it’s chasing her toy lion or enjoying a long snowy walk, Lassie is always eager to be active. She has a lot of energy, rating around a 7/10, which translates to plenty of running and playtime at home. But she also knows how to wind down, enjoying some quiet time with chew treats after her fun-filled activities.
Lassie is a well-trained dog who is food motivated and has already mastered commands like “sit,” “wait,” and “drop.” She’s still working on “down,” but she’s making great progress. On her first night in the foster home, she settled into her dog bed without complaint and was eager to greet her foster family in the morning, showing how quickly she adapts to new environments. Her sweet and calm nature, combined with her energy, makes her a great companion for an active family or individual who enjoys outdoor play and training sessions.
While Lassie enjoys scratches and rubs, she’s not much of a cuddler. She’s more than happy to seek out affection, but she prefers to keep her own space when it comes to snuggling. She met a few people while in her foster home and she did great! She said hello by sniffing them and kept moving on with her day.
Lassie is also fully house trained and has had no accidents inside the home. She knows to potty outside and is generally well-behaved, though she can sometimes jump on the couch when she wants to play. When she is not playing, she would climb on her foster families lap to lay down, an affectionate girl! She walks well on a leash, though she’s a strong dog, so she would benefit from an adopter who is comfortable with her energy on walks.

Once your application is approved, you will participate in an adoption class where you will learn all of the details about your new adopted family member, including their known history and medical records.
