Luca is a sweet and gentle soul who is ready to find his forever family. Recently surrendered to BARCS, he has been adjusting beautifully in his foster home, where his shy yet affectionate personality has been emerging.
Luca is a true snuggle bug who adores being close to his people. Whether he’s leaning in for pets, burying his head into you for comfort, or simply lying nearby, he thrives on companionship. Though initially timid, Luca bonds quickly with kindness and patience, and his love for snuggles makes every moment with him heartwarming.
In his foster home, Luca has shown that he’s crate-trained and walks nicely on a leash. He’s a medium-energy pup, so his daily routine includes relaxing nearby when his foster is still and following them around the house when they’re on the move. He’s content to enjoy quiet moments of togetherness but also loves bursts of playful activity. Luca lives for a good game of tug-of-war, which is his absolute favorite!
This good boy is very food-motivated, making training sessions fun and rewarding. While he’s not the biggest fan of nail trims, he is extremely tolerant, showing his gentle nature even during tasks he doesn’t love. Luca is still gaining confidence and working on putting on some much-needed weight, he`s an otherwise healthy and happy pup.
Luca’s foster’s favorite memory so far is how he buries his head into them for affection—a sweet gesture that shows just how much he loves being close to his people.
If you’re looking for a loving companion who enjoys both playtime and cuddle time, Luca could be the perfect match for you. To learn more or arrange a meet-and-greet, please email dogfosters@barcs.org to connect with his foster family.

If you don’t see what you are looking for, please visit our shelter to meet your perfect match today! Adoption fees are $75; however, we offer several adoption packages listed here. Our adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 2-6 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Step 4: When you have selected the right animal for you, our Adoptions Team will run your Adoption Application for approval. Once your application is approved, you will participate in an adoption class where you will learn all of the details about your new adopted family member, including their known history and medical records.
What else to expect: Animals who are already spayed/neutered and past their stray hold (if applicable) can often go home with you the same day. Pick-up arrangements for unaltered animals and/or animals still on a stray hold will be made during your adoption class.
**Please note: Animals listed on our adoption pages may still be on stray hold and pending reunion with their owners, or have an existing pending adoption application.
