My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the coolest canine companion in urgent need of a foster or adopter- 4-year-old Cody! Cody is a mix of shepherd and lab and likely a few other breeds- but he is a handsome and happy conglomerate of them all. Cody is unfortunately seeking a new home due to no fault of his own- but because of a divorce. We are seeking an immediate foster or truly forever home for this most deserving boy! Cody’s family loves him like crazy but no longer has the ability to keep him as a family member. Cody is such a lively companion. He loves people and other dogs and is super social and friendly. Cody is submissive and playful with other dogs and has spend the last few years around children over 10. Cody is sweet and affectionate after a very short period of initial shyness. He will roll over for belly rubs when he greets his people and is super happy to see you and bounds with excitement. Cody loves the dog park and also loves his daily walks. He has medium energy and is generally pretty mellow. He likes to get exercise everyday (as do you!) but otherwise is very happy to relax and hang out inside or out. Cody can be trusted in the house during the day and is not fond of the crate. Cody would enjoy having his new people who were around a lot or retired or worked from home too. Cody loves his people! Another doggie friend would make him super happy too. Cody makes a very good doggie companion. Cody’s current home does not have a cat, but when exposed to kitties he has been indifferent so we think a cat household would be fine with proper introductions. Cody knows his basic commands and he listens well. He is leash-trained and exhibits no toy or food aggression as well. Cody is food motivated and smart, so his training is easy. Cody loves car rides and will politely sit in a seat or in the back without any fuss. He’s a great travel partner too! Cody still loves to run which is why he’s every owner’s dream at the dog park; he leaps like a gazelle too! Cody is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and micro-chipped and he is available to meet in Tacoma. Additional adoption info

For our dogs, our process starts first with an adoption application. Our dog adoption application includes references, vet info, home photos and proof of home ownership or landlord contact. Our requirements vary per dog, but we look closely at activity level, yard, time away, previous pets, current pets etc.. During that time they may also have a home visit or long conversation (depending upon the situation of the dog, if warranted) with one of our professional trainers. We deliver the dogs with their quality food, treats, all vet records, training material, resources, etc. We encourage and often require additional training. We keep in communication with our fosters and adopters. We try to do the most to set everyone up to succeed. We are upfront about their commitment, training & responsibilities Adoption fees for our dogs and puppies range from $200 - $600 Great people are certainly out there for our dogs because we are having very good success. The cat adoption process is similar but not as involved. We have a shortened application process. At any time the animal can be returned to us if it doesn't work out. The adoption fees cover a portion of the expenses in spay/neuter, vet care, foster care and boarding for some dogs.

Go meet their pets

Our dogs are in foster care in Georgia and Western Washington while we vet, spay, neuter and get to know them. We do regular transports of dogs and puppies rescued from high kill shelters in Georgia. Please go to www.raincityrescue for more info and adoption application. We look forward to meeting you and finding a perfect match for your family.

More about this rescue

We are a small group of animal lovers who couldn’t “click off” email pleas any longer . We just started saying YES to dogs in need. We are not breed specific, but do love our Pits and Pit mixes who are always the last in the shelters and first in our hearts. We have connected with great trainers, super adopters, the best transporters and people within the rescue community to build a strong network to help these animals. But we are “DOING IT” and “LOVING IT”. Unlike others, we just jumped in and later decided to talk about it!! Keeping our "heads in the sand" did not work for this group of amazing "can-do" women.
