My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Location: Mitchell, SD

Hi, I'm Colby! Or as my mama calls me, the prettiest fluff ball around. I came into rescue with some mange, missing fur, porcupine quills in my face and a skin infection. With some TLC, I am thriving everyday and looking so much better. Despite my rough life, I love people, but am cautious about things. I haven't shown signs of aggression (food, toy, etc) but I am not a fan of loud noises/voices, as I will crawl to my safe spot when startled (under the table). If you sit and call me out I will come right too you, but sometimes I just like spending some leisure time in my safe space.

I like other dogs for sure. I have 4 foster siblings - 2 big dogs and 2 small dogs. I have not had one issue with them since being properly introduced.

I love getting pets, especially my ears. I am the cutest because I will talk to you if you have something I want or am wanting attention. I do a happy growl (more like a rumble) or a little "owwwoohh" howl and dance around on my tippy tappys and get really excited. I LOVE treats. I am working on some manners, but as soon as I see the treat, that is the only thing my mind can focus on.

Full disclosure - I am not potty trained. It is very clear that I have not been an indoor dog. I will need a very patient foster to work with me on this as I do not show the typical "I am about to potty" signs. I will just lift my leg and pee. My current fosters work schedules make it difficult to get on a schedule for training me, so I do wear a belly band when I am inside the house. I rarely relieve myself though in the belly band and don't fight to tear it off when it's put on me.

I am a big dog with huge paws and am full of love to give. Will you be my forever family?

The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org).

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration).

Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.
