My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miley is a gentle, sweet, slightly shy kitty. As a tiny kitten she was found outside laying in her rescuer's yard. She was nursed back to health to become the strong, healthy girl she is today. Miley likes a few minutes in her person's arms with some ear scratches and a calm voice, then she's off to play with her toys and her foster brothers and sisters. When she isn't wrestling with them, she likes to groom them and sleep in a pile with them. Miley would do best in a home without children but with another kitty or two or even a gentle dog she can bond with and who can show her the ropes as she continues her transition from a “little stray” in to her true calling as a loving and happy house cat.

Interview

All pet adoptions require an interview with an AAR adoption team member before the application is approved.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

If the application is approved, the adopter signs the contract and pays the adoption fee.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Potential cat adopters: please bring a cat carrier to the interview.

Additional adoption info

To adopt a pet from AAR, potential adopters must fill out AAR's adoption application and interview with an adoption team member. If approved, an adoption agreement is signed and fees paid.

Adoption Fees:
Dogs/puppies 6 months of age and older $175
Puppies under 6 months of age $200
Cats $50.00
Kittens $75.00
The fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and all adoptable animals are current on vaccinations and worming.

Cat and Dog Adoption Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m and Sunday from 11am - 3pm

Since AAR is an all-volunteer organization, adoption hours (and answering the phone) are subject to volunteer availability. You may drop in, or you may want to call first to confirm that the adoption center is staffed: 281-789-4142.

Abandoned Animal Rescue is a no-kill dog / cat shelter located in Magnolia serving Northwest Harris and Southern Montgomery Counties in Texas. It is staffed by dedicated volunteers devoted to saving the lives of homeless and unwanted companion animals.

AAR's mission is to work towards ending pet overpopulation that results in the euthanasia of unwanted cats and dogs. We do this by providing a rescue and adoption center, by emphasizing the importance of spaying and neutering and by educating on humane animal ownership. AAR is committed to the emotional, physical, and behavioral well being of each animal in our care.

All animals surrendered to the shelter are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and wormed; dogs are tested for heartworms and, if positive, are treated.

All operating money for AAR comes from
clinic and adoption fees, donations, and fundraisers. AAR receives no government money.
