Yoda is a unique and lovable 4-month-old puppy searching for her forever family. Her journey began with a challenging start, given away far too young in front of a convenience store in Fresno. Thankfully, a kindhearted person stepped in, ensuring Yoda and her siblings stayed safe with their mama. Now thriving in foster care in the Bay Area, Yoda is ready to bring her playful spirit and big personality to a loving home.
This adorable, likely Shih Tzu-dachshund mix currently weighs about 6 pounds and is expected to grow to 14 pounds or less, just like her mama, a dachshund Chiweenie. Yoda’s scruffy golden coat and striking black face give her a one-of-a-kind look, perfectly complemented by her oversized “helicopter” ears that never fail to steal the show. Her coat is low-shed and will benefit from regular brushing to maintain its charming texture.

Yoda is as lively as she is lovable! Her sunny personality shines through in everything she does. She’s adventurous, curious, and always ready for fun. Whether she’s exploring the yard, wrestling with her siblings, or soaking up cuddles, Yoda brings joy wherever she goes. She’s dog-, cat-, and kid-friendly, making her a great fit for a variety of family types.
She’s almost ready to begin formal training and will thrive in a home that provides structure, time, and space for her to play and learn. Like her siblings, Yoda would love to have another dog around to keep her entertained and help her grow—she’s happiest when she has a furry friend to play with.

We have foster families throughout the Bay Area, spanning from Sacramento to Gilroy. All of our dogs are cared for in foster homes, as we do not yet have a physical facility—but we dream of one day saving animals without boundaries.

More about this rescue
Underdog Animal Rescue, our name pretty much sums us up. We are a registered 501c3 non-profit, volunteer operated nonprofit group dedicated to saving homeless and abandoned dogs from high kill and overcrowded shelters all over the state of California since 2014. We are an all-breed, size and age rescue, meaning we save many of the hardest to place, overbred such as pit bulls and chihuahuas. Our foster-based group lives and operates anywhere from Sacramento to Monterey. We literally give them another chance at life. We have saved over 3000 dogs since starting and we only plan to continue to grow.
When we rescue an animal, we place them in a foster home where they can decompress, learn to be a pet, socialized, spay/neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical or behavioral conditions which would otherwise limit their chances of adoption. We then actively network our dogs to find them the perfect forever loving home. Rescue is undoubtedly hard and trying work, but it is entirely worth it to see the life of a dog saved. As a rescue, we believe it is our duty to save the dogs that really need our help; the dogs that need a little TLC, a little medical care, or just someone to believe in them again. Therefore, we save the dogs that are on their last days at the shelter or haven't even been given a chance to be adopted by the public. As much as we love those sweet puppy eyes, we think more of saving their mommy’s and daddy’s that have been shoved to the back of the shelter awaiting their fate.

It’s only because of our outstanding community, foster families, and volunteers that we can continue our efforts, we are 100% donation funded and every penny counts toward a dog in need. Rescue is undoubtedly hard and trying work but it is entirely worth it to see the life of a dog saved. As a rescue, we believe it is our duty to save the dogs that really need our help; the dogs that need a little TLC, a little medical care, or just someone to believe in them again. This is why we save the dogs that are on their last days at the shelter or haven't even been given a chance to be adopted by the public. As much as we love those sweet puppy eyes, we think more of saving their mommy’s and daddy’s that have been shoved to the back of the shelter awaiting their fate.
