Hello! My name is Bowie. My foster family named me that because I have two different colored eyes and I’m very vocal like the legendary singer David Bowie. I’m mostly German Shepherd with a touch of Husky (we think), born around November 1, 2024.
My journey began when my mom, 8 littermates, and I were rescued by the Peninsula Humane Society after being abandoned. Since joining my foster home on January 9, 2025, I’ve been learning how to be the best family companion ever.
I’m a sweet and affectionate girl who loves asking for pets and belly rubs. Playing with my toys is one of my favorite activities—I like to carry them around and “talk” while I do it, which always makes my foster family laugh. It’s an easy way to keep track of me, as long as I haven’t grabbed one of your shoes by mistake! Like any toddler, I tend to put everything in my mouth, but I’m easily redirected to my toys. There’s a toy basket here that’s so much fun to dig through, though I definitely have my favorites (you can even spot them in some photos!).
I also love spending time outside, especially when there’s a sunny spot or a good stick to chew on. Plants are fascinating, but I’m working on leaving them alone.
I’m a little shadow to my foster mom, following her everywhere she goes! The kitchen is especially interesting—I like to sit or lay down nearby while she does dishes or prepares food, keeping a close eye on all the action.
I’m highly motivated by peanut butter training treats and will gladly try anything you ask to earn one! I really look forward to my basic command training. Mom says I’m a quick learner. I’m about 90% crate trained—I go in easily when you say “go to bed,” especially if there’s a treat or toy involved.
Sometimes I get a little vocal when left alone (puppy FOMO is real!), but I settle quickly and can nap quietly for a few hours while you work. If you’re nearby, I’m perfectly content to rest while you watch TV or even sleep through the night in my crate.
When it comes to potty training, I always go when I’m outside, and I’m learning how to let my family know when I need to head out.
Since I haven’t had all my shots yet, my world is still pretty small, but that doesn’t stop me from being confident, curious, smart, and playful! I’m so excited to explore more, meet new people, and experience all the adventures that lie ahead.
My foster family includes a Mom, a Dad, and an 11-year-old female German Shepherd. She’s still getting used to having me around, so we’re taking introductions slowly. I’d really love a playmate—if they’re friendly and willing, But even if it’s just us humans doing things together, I’d be perfectly happy with that too.
If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate pup who’s ready to learn, explore, and be your loyal companion, I might just be the perfect match for your family!
Bowie is a level 4 dog and the adopters must be puppy approved
