My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bart is the largest of the Simpson’s litter, a tiny 10 week old 5 lb Terrier mix puppy. He has a smooth coat with the cutest little scruffy chin & a chirpy bark. He has a shy, sweet nature & is the bravest of his little siblings. He has a curious personality, he’s enamored with spurts of water & getting into typical puppy mischief. He’s energetic & fast as he does little zoomies. He’s a fun, silly puppy that loves running around & playing tug, wrestling with his doggy siblings. He should have a canine sibling that he can learn from, to continue building confidence & a yard to play in. He is potty training using a dog door to go on grass & loves the freedom to go outside all day. He prefers to sleep snuggling with people & other pets instead of being in a crate. He’s fostered with multiple dogs of all sizes & ages.

The puppies were terrified after being rescued but with time & a loving hand they are blossoming. They are still timid when you go to pick them up, as a baby they just don’t understand yet & are a little scared. To help gain their trust and adopter will need patience, understanding & positive reinforcement as they come out of their shell. They are scared of loud noises & when chased to be picked up, an adopter will need to play with them at their level. They would be best for dog savvy older kids that have experience being gentle with pets & keep in mind they still have sharp baby teeth. They do not live with cats but are expected to do fine with them.

They are not fully vaccinated yet & cannot be on public ground where other possibly unvaccinated animals or wildlife may expose her to disease. This includes; no playing on park grass, no walks on sidewalks, no apartment common areas or dog runs, no non-fenced in yards until they are fully vaccinated. An after adoption plan will need to be in place that is specific to athis nurturing a puppy’s needs for there to be a successful transition, a family committed to providing mental & physical stimulation, socialization & structured training.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

We have foster families throughout the Bay Area, spanning from Sacramento to Gilroy. All of our dogs are cared for in foster homes, as we do not yet have a physical facility—but we dream of one day saving animals without boundaries.

To ensure thoughtful and responsible adoptions, we do not host large adoption events. Instead, we prefer to showcase pets in their foster homes, where they feel most comfortable. After you apply, the foster family will reach out to discuss next steps, answer any questions, and arrange a meet-and-greet.

If your application is not chosen for a specific dog, we keep it on file for 90 days. During this time, you can email us to request your application be forwarded to other foster parents for dogs you may be interested in.

More about this rescue

Underdog Animal Rescue, our name pretty much sums us up. We are a registered 501c3 non-profit, volunteer operated nonprofit group dedicated to saving homeless and abandoned dogs from high kill and overcrowded shelters all over the state of California since 2014. We are an all-breed, size and age rescue, meaning we save many of the hardest to place, overbred such as pit bulls and chihuahuas. Our foster-based group lives and operates anywhere from Sacramento to Monterey. We literally give them another chance at life. We have saved over 3000 dogs since starting and we only plan to continue to grow.

When we rescue an animal, we place them in a foster home where they can decompress, learn to be a pet, socialized, spay/neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical or behavioral conditions which would otherwise limit their chances of adoption. We then actively network our dogs to find them the perfect forever loving home. Rescue is undoubtedly hard and trying work, but it is entirely worth it to see the life of a dog saved. As a rescue, we believe it is our duty to save the dogs that really need our help; the dogs that need a little TLC, a little medical care, or just someone to believe in them again. Therefore, we save the dogs that are on their last days at the shelter or haven't even been given a chance to be adopted by the public. As much as we love those sweet puppy eyes, we think more of saving their mommy’s and daddy’s that have been shoved to the back of the shelter awaiting their fate.

Thank you for seeing what we do and loving us for it. It’s only because of our outstanding community, foster families, and volunteers that we can continue our efforts, we are 100% donation funded and every penny counts toward a dog in need. Please consider getting involved- foster, adopt, volunteer, share, donate!

As a foster based rescue, Underdog places dogs in temporary foster homes where they can decompress and get the love and affection that they need. Dogs are also vaccinated, spayed/neutered and receive any other medical treatment needed before finding their forever home.
