Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Chicken! This friendly little hooded rat is looking for a new home. Rats are extremely social, and although they love their humans and form very strong bonds with them, they thrive with other rats! They love to climb and explore, so this cage should be multi-leveled, and contain many ladders, hammocks, toys, things to chew on, things to pick up and pull apart, and bedding for nesting. Rats will need a cage with at least 2 square feet of space per rat. Because rats have specific needs, we encourage our adopters to have their rat home prepared before adopting. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized.
