Meet Athena, a big, beautiful Anatolian Shepherd mix with a heart as large as her frame! This social and friendly lady came to the shelter through no fault of her own and has experience living with young children, cats, and dogs. She’s even had plenty of doggy friends in the past! Athena loves to play, although she’s still learning how to share her toys, so patience and positive reinforcement will go a long way.

In her previous home, Athena was an excellent fishing buddy and apparently loved to swim—she’s always up for an adventure! At her size, she doesn’t always realize how much space she takes up, so supervised interactions with small children are a must. She’s currently working on her fitness and would benefit from a gradual weight loss plan overseen by a vet to help her live a longer, healthier, and happier life.
