My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Born on October 20, 2024, Max is a charming hound/lab mix with a heart as big as his paws! With his boundless energy, curious nose, and playful spirit, he’s always ready for an adventure—whether it’s chasing after his favorite toys or sniffing out new places to explore. Max is the definition of fun and excitement, but he also knows how to enjoy a quiet moment with a good cuddle.

Max is as loyal as they come, and his friendly nature makes him an instant friend to everyone he meets. As he grows, he’ll be your trusty sidekick, always eager to learn and share love with his favorite people. With his goofy antics and loving personality, Max is sure to be the perfect companion for anyone looking for a fun and affectionate pup! Max is currently 27 lbs. and will likely grow to be a large sized dog.

Our adoption fee is $125 for small breed dogs under 20 pounds and $100 for all other dogs and cats unless otherwise noted in their bio. More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Pulaski County is to rescue, care for and find homes for abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted animals; to reduce suffering of animals; and to reduce the number of homeless animals through adoption, spay/neuter, and through education.

The Humane Society of Pulaski County provides access to low-cost, healthy, inoculated, sterilized animals to people seeking to adopt animals as pets only. Adopters are screened to see if they can provide the basics of care for the animals, proper housing, and continued veterinary maintenance; and have no history of animal abuse or irresponsible ownership.

The Humane Society is a private no-kill shelter, supported solely by donations, fund-raisers, bequests and grants. We receive no city, county or state funding, nor are we affiliated with any other organization. We have been rescuing animals since 1946, and have been in our present building since 2000.
