My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cortado! This little espresso bean can be a bit bitter at first, but once she knows you, she is so sweet!

Cortado came to TCR as an older kitten, and it has taken her some time to warm up. With the help of her friend, London Fog, she has come to realize that humans aren't quite so bad... and neither are treats and being petted!

Cortado would do best with patient adopters who can start her off in one smaller room and go slow with her - unfamiliar things are likely to still be scary to her! She is nervous being picked up and handled, but if you spend enough time with her you can sometimes coax her into your lap for a gentle petting session.

She would do best with a confident cat friend in her new home to help make her feel at ease. She would also enjoy being adopted with her current BFF, London Fog, although an adopter would need to be willing to give both of these girlies time to come out of their shells. Very loud/young kiddos and dogs might be a bit too much for her. Older, respectful children could do OK with her, though!

Cortado is about a year old. She has been spayed, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV/FeLV-. Are you willing to give this girl some time to brew? Please apply today!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
