My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I will never get how anyone could abandon their senior dogs. I mean, really? You’re just going to toss them aside when they need you the most? But hey, I guess some people just aren't into loyalty, compassion, or doing the right thing. Meet Redford, the 10-year-old Golden Retriever who somehow ended up abandoned and wandering the streets. Can you imagine? A senior in his golden years—literally. He’s probably thinking, “Wow, I spent 10 years being the best dog ever, and this is what I get?” Luckily, some kind soul picked him up and brought him to the shelter, but of course, his original humans didn’t come back for him. But don’t worry, because we did, and now Redford is officially a member of our fluffy butt family. Red is the absolute best dog. Classic Golden—always happy, always eager to please, and ready to hang with his people 24/7. He’s basically a walking heart, with four legs and a wagging tail. It’s honestly heartbreaking that he’s had to deal with this in his golden years. But hey, their loss, right? Because despite being a seasoned veteran of life, Red is one of the greatest dogs around. Seriously, we know the lucky family who adopts him is going to wonder how they ever lived without this lovable guy.

Red loves everyone. I mean, everyone. He’s basically the dog version of that one friend who can walk into a room full of strangers and somehow leave with 17 new besties. He’s the definition of "Golden Retriever charm"—you’ll find yourself falling in love with him whether you want to or not. And the best part? He’s not one of those spazzy dogs that acts like he just mainlined a gallon of coffee before meeting someone new. No, nope, nada. Red is cool, calm, and collected. When he meets new people, he doesn't go full-on circus act, jumping around like he's auditioning for the next Fast & Furious movie. Instead, he’ll just calmly plop his butt down in front of you, lean in for some pets, and let you bask in the glory of his perfection. Red hasn’t met any purrinators yet, but we’re pretty sure he’ll be fine as long as they’re not too high-energy. If they’re all zen and chill, he’ll probably just give them a polite nod and move on with his day. However, if they decide to start running around like they’ve had five cups of coffee... well, let’s just say Red might take an interest. We can’t promise he’ll resist the urge to play “chase the cat”.

Before you start scrolling past Red in search of a “more interactive” or “playful” dog, maybe just give this a little more thought. Red loves car rides. He’ll hop right in, claim the backseat as his personal lounge, and proceed to pass out. Of course, every now and then he’ll sit up to look out the window, because what’s a car ride without at least a little people-watching? But honestly, he’s basically a potato on four legs, just hanging out while you drive. Want to take him out in public? No problem. He’ll hang out like the cool, relaxed dude he is. If people come up to say hello, he’ll wag his tail and soak up the attention, like a celebrity who’s just too humble to ask for it. If there's chaos happening around him? He’ll be chilling on the ground, casually observing, before going back to his nap—because that’s what life’s all about, right? Red’s not one to get worked up over the madness. Now, we haven’t done any walks yet, but let’s be real—if it involves his people, he’s there. He’s ready to hit the pavement, even if it means he's more of a slow stroll kind of guy. So, don’t let his age fool you. He’s the laid-back dude who can still roll with the punches. Just because he’s older doesn’t mean he’s ready to miss out on all the fun. Red’s definitely not the "get off my lawn" type of old man. He’s more like the guy who would totally go skydiving if there was someone to drag him along. He’s a laid-back homebody, but still totally down for whatever fun comes his way.

Red would absolutely do fine in an apartment. So, if you've been on the lookout for a trustworthy dog who won’t mind living in a shoebox for a while—well, congratulations, your search is officially over! Red’s got the whole “small space, no problem” thing down. And just to make life even easier, he’s potty trained, so you won’t have to worry about him redecorating your floors with little surprise gifts. When it comes to house manners, Red’s basically a saint. No kennel needed for this guy. He’s not out here trying to turn your couch into confetti or your shoes into chew toys. Nope, the most rebellious thing he’ll do while you're away is carefully scout out the best napping spots in the house. And the best part? You don’t have to worry about him barking at every squirrel, leaf, or imaginary intruder. Nope, Red is a quiet boy. He only joins in the barking party if the other dogs are doing it—then it’s like he’s just there for moral support. After that, he’s back to requesting some peace and quiet. Red is basically the sweetest old man you’ll ever meet. He’s all about the couch life, just lounging around with his people like he’s living in a five-star hotel. Oh, and don’t think he’s too proud to sleep in bed with you every night. He’s a shadow dog—if you move, so does he. Wherever you go, he’s right behind you. No personal space here, just unconditional loyalty. And when it comes to food—well, he’s no stranger to licking the plate clean after every meal. He’s basically been practicing for his whole life. He’s basically a natural-born house dog, slipping into home life as if he’s been living in luxury his whole life.

Alright folks, listen up. If you’re tired of your life being void of a truly chill, absolutely perfect dog who will silently follow you around like a shadow, then it’s time to make Red’s dreams come true (and let’s be real, yours too). If you think you can handle his majesty, head on over to our adoption app and fill it out at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app. No, we’re not just sending him home with any random person—he's got standards. Once you complete the app, we’ll send it right over to his foster family, and then... drum roll... you'll be on your way to pick him up in none other than Yukon, Oklahoma. So, if you’re ready to roll up to Yukon and pick up your new best friend, fill out that app, and we’ll make it happen! Don’t miss out—this lovable, chill senior is just waiting for his happily ever after!
