Hello, I'm Merle! I just moved to Minnesota and am trying to get settled. I have decided that I love the snow and cold. Each time the humans take me out I have to roll in the snow and scratch my back for a full minute before we do anything else! Sometimes when we're outside I get spooked by a car, but the humans help me feel safe. In the house I have decided that I feel the safest when I can sleep in a dogbed that is tucked away from the activity. The humans spend a lot of time by the TV, but I'm scared of that too, so I don't hang out in the living room with them much. I like it when they come sit in my quiet spot and pet me. The humans are giving me all the time and space that I need to feel safe, and they give me lots of great treats. Each day I get a bit more brave. And they assure me that I am the bestest boy, and that I am the softest dog they have ever pet. I have no problem sleeping in my kennel at night or when the humans leave. If you need a soft, sweet hunk of love, I am your guy!
***FOSTER TO ADOPT*** Merle is Heartworm positive and is currently going through treatment. Once his treatment is complete, the adoption can be finalized. Once his adoption is finalized, it is the responsibility of the adoptive family to get a Heartworm test every 2 months to follow up on his treatment progress until he has a negative result which can take 2-9 months. During these months, you will need to make sure his heart rate is not elevated due to high energy play or exercise. Merle will also need continued use of monthly Heartworm prevention going forward. These medical needs will be the responsibility of the adopter. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.
