My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member.

Why Jinny might be the one for you:
Our staff love Jinny and it's easy to see why. Jinny greets them at the front of her kennel with soft eyes, tongue hanging out and a body that says "glad you are here because I have missed you". Jinny is easy to leash and walks great on a leash. She does not get bothered by other dogs . She does not need time to warm up to people - she likes them from the get-go. She loves to play ball and fetch even though she is not very good at it. She's better at the chase than the return. She likes her treats and is oh so gentle about taking them from your hand. She is the perfect combination of gentle and enthusiastic. She is bouncy with excitement sometimes but mostly she is leaning into you for pets. Would you like a gentle dog who might slobber and who may not be the Einstein of dogland but who is cute, sweet, well behaved and will make you laugh at and love her? You will have fun with Jinny. What to meet her? Come to our shelter and ask for the Jinny who is waiting.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
