My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roger had a prolapsed rectum at intake and conservative treatment was tried twice and failed so a colopexy was done. (His colon was protruding through his rectum, and we ended up repairing it surgically after our conservative treatment attempts failed.) He has done very well since then. Looking at him, you would never know what he's been through. We are very optimistic that the surgical repair was a success and he'll be able to live a normal life, though his abdomen may not feel like a typical abdomen. He's a very sweet boy who loves getting attention and playing with toys.

More about this shelter

Norman Animal Welfare is a municipal shelter operated and funded by the City of Norman, Oklahoma. In addition to providing a safe environment for our adoptable animals we also are responsible for the enforcement of all animal related laws within the City of Norman and holding all stray animals that are located. In addition to these main roles, we also provide public microchipping, city pet licensing, and other educational services to our community.
We average approximately 3,400 animals in and out of our facility each year. We have an amazing facility that fully opened in 2016. We operate daily with a very limited staff supported by several amazing volunteers. We operate an active foster program and are always seeking to work with those in our community interested in assisting us in our mission.
