Dirk is a 3-year-old bundle of courage, joy, and love who has redefined what it means to thrive. His journey with us began last October when he came in with an injured leg. Despite our efforts to save it, the damage was too severe, and Dirk`s leg needed to be amputated to ensure the best quality of life for him. Since then, Dirk has shown us that three legs are more than enough for him to live his best life. This boy is unstoppable! He runs, he jumps, and he greets us every day with the most heartwarming hugs. His favorite thing in the world? Stuffed animals! Dirk always has one in his mouth and is happiest when he`s surrounded by his plushy collection. When he’s not showing off his playful side, you can find him curled up on the couch, living his best couch potato life. Dirk is loyal, loving, and ready to find his forever family—a family who will celebrate his resilience and spoil him with all the stuffed animals and cuddles he deserves. To meet Dirk, please call 843-249-4948 to schedule an appointment, or you can submit an application at https://humanesocietynmb.org/dog-adoption-form/

HSNMB does not hold animals and all adoptions are done on a first-come, first-served basis in person at the shelter. Once the adoption is completed and the fee is paid, you must take the animal with you at that time.
Please be sure to bring a photo ID and cash or a credit card for the adoption fee. The primary caregiver is required to be present to go through the adoption process. Any children 5 and under and, in some cases, any existing dogs living in the home will be required to be present and meet the animal prior to adopting. Meet and greets are not required for all animals, but may be deemed necessary by HSNMB staff for specific pets.
Adoption Fees:
Cats (over 6 months of age): $60
Kittens (under 6 months of age): $100
Dogs (over 6 months of age): $110
Puppies (under 6 months of age): $140
Seniors ages 60 and up qualify for discounted adoptions fees.
