Meet Putti: Putti finds himself needing a new start through no fault of his own. Due to unfortunate life changes his owner was unable to keep him and entrusted HBPR to find him the best home. He sned you this message:

Hi my name is Putti (Latin meaning Boy), I am 5 years old and they tell me I am a Pomeranian mix. I have a handsome thick coat of white and reddish blonde, all that fluffiness makes me look bigger than my 15.8 lb. You can usually find me doing zoomies! I love to run and play. Just wait until you see how fast I am zoom, zoom! I love people, other dogs, and kids. My only dislike is Cats I don’t care for them at all! I am leash, crate and house trained, oh and I am an expert snuggle-buddy! The folks here are nice and tell me I will be seeing the doctor soon and then I can start my new life! I can’t wait to meet you and show you what a good boy I am. Interview

Normally someone will call you after the application is received.

Meet the Pet

Meet and greets are usually at our kennel in Ellijay but other locations may be considered.

4.
Take the Pet Home

If the meet and greet goes well, paperwork is signed, fees are paid, and the pet may be taken home on a trial basis for up to 30 days.

Additional adoption info

All dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current to age on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative, and started on heartworm preventative and flea preventative. Adoption fee for dogs are approximately $200 cash, check or debit card.

All cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, dewormed, FELV/FIV negative and started on flea preventative. Adoption fees are set based on the animal but typically around 65.00 cash, check or debit/creditt card.

Application review and approval is required prior to adopting. Adopters must be at least 21 years old.

Go meet their pets

We hold monthly adoption open houses at our kennel in Ellijay, Ga. We also arrange to do adoptions at the kennel by appointment. So if one of our pets pulls at your heart, contact us and we will set up a "meet and greet" to start the adoption process.

Adoptions are held at other various locations from time to time around the Gilmer County / Ellijay area.

Homeward Bound is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill organization based in Gilmer County, Georgia, which began in August 2000. We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for unwanted companion animals, while actively seeking permanent homes through our adoption programs. We take in dogs and cats that are found as strays, owner surrenders and abandoned. We also take animals out of high kill shelters to prevent them from being euthanized. We have rescued and adopted out about 7,000 animals.
