Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi, I’m Akio! I’m a very sweet lap cat who is 10 years old and a new arrival to Homeward Bound. You see, I was found back in December, and I was looking a bit rough around the edges. A kind person asked for help, and here I am! At Homeward Bound, I was named Akio which means "bright" with the goal of manifesting a bright future and happy new year.
However, upon arrival it was very noticeable that I was sick and needed to be seen by the vet. I was promptly taken to Tropicana Animal Hospital for blood work and hospitalization. I was diagnosed with FIV, I received antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection, and fluids. I was also treated for parasites! After a few days, I began to improve. I ate well, and I was so sweet and charming that everyone loved me.
After I was cleared by the vet, I spent a few more days in a foster home to continue to recover, and just recently, I was deemed 100% healthy!
I’m now ready for a home of my own and my needs are simple. While FIV+, as long as I have a healthy diet, a stress-free environment, and regular vet visits, I can still have a happy, healthy, long life. I do need extra feedings right now to help me gain some weight, so someone who can offer that is ideal. And lastly, a lap. I LOVE people and just want to lay around in your lap and head butt you for scratches. If you think you can offer me a good life with lots of attention, I’m your man!

More about this shelter
Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cats and people in our community. We provide counseling, information, and resources to empower people to support their cats and others in the community. If cats cannot stay with their families or neighborhoods, we prioritize our intake on cats most at risk - cats in need of rehoming; kittens who need specialized care; and cats who have been abandoned, are sick or injured, or are not thriving in the community. We are committed to ensuring the highest level of attention and care for cats in our adoption program and provide a modern, free-roaming adoption center to minimize stress, serve the individual needs of each cat, and set up both cats and adopters for success.
