Mellow is a 7-8 year old Maltese mix who we rescued from a shelter. He weighs 12 lbs and has a non-shedding coat that makes him an option for those with allergies. He will require regular grooming. Mellow got his name because when he arrived, he was just such a chill dude! His foster says: Mellow truly lives up to his name. When he first arrived, he was calm but slightly reserved, taking a day or two to observe his new environment. Now, he’s fully settled in and shows his sweet, affectionate side. Mellow is a cuddler on his own terms—he enjoys gentle affection but also appreciates his space. He isn’t a “velcro dog,” but he does like to be nearby and will quietly follow you from room to room just to stay close. His calm demeanor is unshakable, even in noisy or chaotic environments.

Mellow has an easygoing daily routine:

Morning: He wakes up around 6:00 AM, goes out for a potty break, and has breakfast shortly after.

Midday: On the weekends, a mid-morning walk is a highlight of his day. He enjoys a nice, leisurely pace and loves sniffing around. Afterward, he’ll nap or lounge in a cozy spot near his people. He is ok while we are at work all day.

Afternoon: Mellow gets some playtime or gentle interaction if there are other dogs around. He eats dinner around 6:00 PM.

Evening: Another walk to stretch his legs, followed by quiet time to relax and unwind.

Night: Mellow sleeps through the night on his own comfy bed, usually near his humans.

Mellow gets along well with both big and small dogs. He plays gently and respects other dogs’ space when they need it. He’s been off-leash with other dogs and is always polite and social. He’s amazing with children of all ages! He’s patient with loud noises and tolerant of small hands grabbing for hugs or pats.

Mellow is the perfect mix of playful and chill. He loves his walks and can happily engage in playtime, but he’s equally content lounging on the couch or in his bed for hours. He’s more of a lounger than a high-energy dog.

Mellow is a dream on a leash! He walks at a steady, relaxed pace without pulling. He doesn’t bark at other dogs or chase squirrels—he’s more interested in exploring scents along the way. Mellow is fully house trained and knows to go outside for potty breaks. He hasn’t been crate-trained because he’s trustworthy in the house, and he doesn’t require a doggy door or potty pads. Mellow doesn’t chew on furniture or shoes. He prefers his toys if he feels like nibbling. Mellow rarely barks. He might let out a single alert bark if someone comes to the door, but he quickly settles.

Mellow would thrive in a calm, loving home where he can enjoy regular walks and plenty of cozy spots to relax. He’d do great in a home with kids, other dogs, or as a solo pet. His perfect family would be one that appreciates his laid-back demeanor and enjoys spending quiet time together. He’s an easygoing, no-fuss dog who fits seamlessly into almost any environment. Whether you have a bustling household or a quieter lifestyle, Mellow will adjust and bring peace and joy into your life.

Mellow is a rare gem and is an option for almost any type of home! If there are children they need to be over the age of 5.
