Hey there! My name is Scruffy and there is a good reason for that: I have a scruffy cream-colored coat and could not be cuter if I tried. If you are a fan of small dogs, I can almost guarantee you that you will love me. I am that cute! I am a spunky senior who loves people, treats and walks -- in that order! Because I am a little older, I am a pretty chill little dog who enjoys snuggling with my person. And if it is a lap dog you are looking for, I'm your guy. And because I am a such nice little size, you could take me with you wherever you go. So if you are looking for a companion who will always be there for you, you really can't go wrong with me. Operating the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, an open-admission facility and Alexandria’s only animal shelter, the League provides care for more than 3,500 animals every year, including strays, lost pets, local wildlife, rescue animals, and pets surrendered by their owners. Serving the community since 1946, the League has contracted with the City of Alexandria to provide animal care, control, and sheltering services since 1989. The AWLA is committed to ending animal homelessness, promoting animal welfare, and serving as an educational resource for the community.
