Tempura is a sweet, playful, and brave little girl. For such a tiny girl, her confidence is endearing. She will boldly approach dogs and people with her tail held high and wagging to say hello, and she LOVES to make friends with other pups. When she’s not playing with other dogs or her humans, she enjoys chewing on benebone and nylabones, and eating. She’s super easy to please; we haven’t been able to find anything this girl doesn’t like!
Tempura is a puppy with a lot of energy. But she can self-play if given a basket of toys to choose from and a good chew toy. She takes daily short "naps" in her crate which provides her rest, and because she is so food motivated, she'll do amazing with formal and ongoing training. While she has a lot of puppy energy, when it's time to dim the lights and enjoy couch time, she'll peacefully snuggle up on your lap or on the couch next to you. What a sweetheart!
Given her friendly nature, Tempura would love to have a doggie friend who also likes to play. But she would also do fine in a home as a solo pet to pawrents who took time to engage in play with her, too. If you're the type to wear a doggie sling bag, Tempura would be a willing participant in your patio and shopping excursions. She loves adventure and socializing.
Oh, and good news for cat lovers: Tempura passed her cat test, so she would also do well in a home with cat companions. She loves playing with dogs of all sizes and has been exposed to a 6 month old baby who she wants to play with as well. We know she’ll make a great addition to many families for this reason!

In order to qualify for ALIVE’s program all of the following steps must be met:
You must be at least 24 years of age and be able to provide ALIVE with proof of age.
Any current pets must be up to date on vaccinations, and be spayed/neutered. Exceptions to this will only be considered if proof of a medical explanation is provided.
If you currently rent, you must provide a landlord’s phone number and a copy of your executed lease.
All members of the family living in the home where the animal will be placed must be interviewed.
Applicant must live within 50 miles of Chicago if interested in adopting and within 10 miles of Chicago if interested in fostering.
Allow an ALIVE representative into your home for a visit to insure that your home is safe for the potential new dog or cat.
Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet.
Adoption Donation Amounts:
Dogs over 6 months old: $325
Dogs under 6 months old: $400
Dogs over 7 years old: $150
Rabbits: $150
Cats: $175
If you are adopting a bonded pair, the adoption donation will be as reflected above, but as a buy one, get one free.
We require a $75 training deposit at the time of adopting a dog. You will be required to enroll and complete a training class with your new dog at one of our approved training facilities within 3 months of adoption in order for the deposit to be refunded.
