Smeagol is a shy boy but is making good progress in his quiet foster home. He is a chill boy, will sit in your lap and hang with the dogs on the couch as long as you hold him. I did catch him interacting with my big dog through the crate and they have booped noses with little reaction. I have let him loose in the bathroom and he loves playing with little balls in the tub. He loves those squeeze up treats so I have been using them as rewards for good behaviour or to bribe him for petting. An experienced cat caregiver and a quiet home would be best for the successful continued socialization of this kitten. I have him loose in my dining room with his dog crate and when I open the door, he will usually stay put and wait and see what’s about to happen . I can now approach him slowly and he will sniff and then allow me to pet him and he will then return the attention by rubbing on me. He is also very playful and loves those little furry mice and little balls . He is extremely familiar with those squeeze up treats so if he ever gets difficult to capture just show him one of those and he will come running. He does not live up to his name because he is no longer a spicy boy. He may be a little shyer than most, but I think that once he warms up to his owner, he’s gonna be a wonderful cat. My son came to visit this weekend and he was rubbing all over him by the time he left.
Meet Smeagol at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, from 12-4pm on Saturday during our weekly adoption event. All cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative. Apply to adopt to be the first to schedule a meet and greet. He should be ready for adoption by Friday, 1/31.
All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information.
Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.
