LEAH NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Leah Best Guess for Breed: Husky and shepherd mix
Best Guess for Age: 11 months as of February 2025 SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 35 lbs as of January 2025; she might have just a bit more to grow
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested if you have them.
Currently Living at: Puerto Rican shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get here on a freedom flight on February 22.
Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Leah would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.
Leah is Looking For: Woof! I'm a sato - a street dog from Puerto Rico. I'd like to say I *was* a sato - I would like to be known as a beloved family dog. I'm seeking my own humans for long sniffy walks - the smells in the DC area are going to be so different! - romps in parks - and all the adventures they can dream up. I'm a young girl, haven't seen nearly enough of the world yet, and have all that awesome energy to burn, after all! Going to dog school is on my wish list as well, so I can show how super smart I am.
Most of all, I want to know I'm safe and loved and where I belong. To bestow upon my new family adoring gazes, happy tail wags, and loyal companionship. What do you say? Can you see me by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog .
