My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pulgita who is a very energetic 11 week old Chihuahua mix puppy. He loves to snuggle up with his siblings and wrestle with them. His two brothers have recently been adopted, so now Pulgita needs his own forever loving family. He weighs 6.3 pounds, and he is a good eater. He has learned to sit when his food is ready, but he can't sit still and jumps for excitement when he sees the bowl coming his way. He has transitioned over to puppy kibble and loves to drink his water. His potty training is going well and he has learned to use the pee pads. He sleeps through the night and is doing great on his crate training. He loves to be held and cuddle up in your arms. You will have a snuggle buddy while relaxing on the couch. He gets along great with our two 65-pound Labrador Retrievers. Not sure how he would get along with small children since he hasn't been around any. He does have tiny sharp teeth and loves to nibble on fingers, so he will need lots of chew toys. He will keep you entertained with his silly antics and pouncing around. Pulgita is looking for his forever home.

Submit Application

If you see an animal you would like to meet, complete our online application. You will receive an email with the next steps.

2.
Meet the Pet

Visit the facility where the animal is located. If in foster care, the foster will set up a time to meet with you.

3.
Sign Adoption Contract

One of our adoption counselors will review the animal's medical history and walk you through the paperwork.

4.
Pay Fee

Our adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Once the adoption process is complete, you can bring your furry friend home!

Our mission is to provide the programs and services needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster.

San Antonio Pets Alive! is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Due to alarming euthanasia rates, San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) was founded in 2012. SAPA! is unique—it is the only high paced, high-volume rescue in San Antonio, saving 6,000 at-risk cats and dogs annually.

Since its inception, SAPA! has saved more than 47,000 dogs and cats. SAPA! provides safety nets for the dogs and cats that fall through the cracks of all other lifesaving options and end up on the euthanasia lists, often with just hours to be saved. SAPA! promotes the availability of these dogs and cats to other rescues, adopters and fosters.
