My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lady,

Female, Labrador Retriever Mix, Age 2 years, weight 45 pounds

Lady is a gentle, affectionate Black Lab mix looking for a home where she can truly belong. Once a pregnant stray, she was taken in by a family but kept chained to a tree, where she gave birth to her puppies. Her little ones found loving homes, and now it’s Lady’s turn to be cherished.

She’s a shy but sweet girl who takes time to trust, but for the right person, she will be the most devoted companion. Lady may not be the type to rush up to strangers, but once she bonds with you, she’ll be your loyal shadow. She’s looking for a peaceful home with gentle hands and a patient heart—someone who understands that some of the best friendships take time to grow. If you’re ready to give Lady the love she’s always deserved, she’s ready to meet you.

More about this rescue

The Canine Compassion Fund, Inc. (CCF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  The CCF was established to help meet some of the specific needs resulting from canine overpopulation.  After extensive research several distinct areas were identified as needing immediate as well as long term attention and the following mission statement was developed -

The mission of the Canine Compassion Fund, Inc. is to provide lifetime care and enrichment for surrendered or abandoned senior canines in a specialized facility and through a "forever foster" program; to help reduce the population of homeless canines through adoption and spay neuter programs; and to provide responsible pet ownership education to the public.
