My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Located in Michigan

Althea, a nine-month female Malinois located in Northern Michigan, joins MAD after being neglected, abused, and having spent over 22 hours daily in her crate. Her safety was ensured when she was confiscated following her owner's arrest. Althea is now expending her pent up puppy energy and has yet to develop an off switch. While dog-friendly, she needs guidance on manners and pack dynamics. Typical Mal pup behavior in a 9 month old and 60 pounds dog. Crate and house trained. An experienced handler and a child-free home at this time are essential. Althea would do best in an active or sport home. Apply today for Althea! She is a diamond in the rough waiting to for her moment to shine. She will become someone heart dog... she is eager to please.

We are an official 501C3 organziation that does not have a physical location. Our home address is in Michigan, however, the majority of our dogs are not located in Michigan. The physical location of each of our dogs is posted with the name of the pet or in the title area. If you are within 4 hours of the pet, please be prepared to pick the pet up. We do provide transport assistance up to 750 miles, however, the applicant must drive 50% of the total distance of the transport in those cases. If the pet of interest is farther than 750 miles, MAD will provide up to 350 miles of transport assistance and the adopter will need to arrange or drive the balance of the distance. Any additional miles must be covered by the applicant.

The information that we have available is in our posting. If you would like to discuss this animal additionally please fill out this application. Applications that are completed in our process and being considered as a match will speak to the foster home to gain more information about our adoptable dog.

All MAD Rescue animals are spayed or neutered. For puppies we do have a $ 250 refundable spay/neuter deposit and require sterilization at the age of 6 months. The rescue will cover the expense of the s/n up to $ 350.

All MAD Rescue animals are vaccinated to include Parvo/Distemer combo, Bordatella, and Rabies. Our dogs will be heartworm tested and treated if necessary. MAD Rescue dogs will also have a fecal exam and treated for any parasites.

Each adopted MAD Rescue dog will be provided with a FI GPS locator collar and 6 months of service at no additional charge.

MAD Rescue provides a one month subscription to Petcademy for every new adoptive parent/family.

Adoption fees should be included on each posting. 2024 fees are $ 550 for puppies under 1 year of age, $ 495 for adults over 1 year and up to 7 years old, Seniors are $ 395.

More about this rescue

Mission Statemet
Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue, Inc. (MAD) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which is dedicated to rescuing Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds who have found themselves without a home (surrendered, discarded, abused, neglected or impounded). All animals that are accepted by MAD are spayed or neutered, given medical attention and rehabilitation, as needed, and placed with foster homes until their health and evaluations are completed and they are ready to be placed in their loving permanent homes.
