My story

Good with cats: YES
Foster location: Fitchburg, WI

Fun Bio: Hi, I’m Aspen! I am a lively 8 month old puppy and I'm still learning a lot about the world but I'm picking up on things quickly! I'm mostly potty trained but you may want to expect some accidents as I transition into your home. My foster parents put bells on the back door so I can politely tell them I need to go out but I haven't mastered them just yet. Due to my past living with an aggressive dog, I have learned to resource guard my favorite person (not food or toys) but my foster mom believes I can be trained out of this behavior because I'm so smart and sweet otherwise. We highly recommend a home with no dogs or only one other dog but they should stay mostly separated or highly supervised until my resource guarding is under control. I've never met a cat before. I really love to play fetch (but will eventually destroy the tennis ball). I get super wiggly and love to bounce around when I want something. When it's time to settle down I'm a master at cuddling and I'm very good in a crate at night.

If interested in a pet from us please fill out the adoption application that is located on our website.  We process applications in the order in which they are received.  We will likely not respond to interest emails regarding puppies and/or kittens, we get so many "interest" emails that we simply do not have the time to respond to each one.

We always recommend crate training, positive reinforcement training, exercise, playtime, and a regular schedule for potty breaks when bringing a new dog/puppy into your home. Adjustment takes time for both you and your new family member, so remember to be patient and enjoy this new and exciting time!
Included in the adoption fee are age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm testing, deworming, spay or neuter surgery, and microchip.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with an adoption application. We require a reference check, vet check, and home check. Adoption fees range from $100-$325 depending on the pet. Meet-and-greets can be set up by appointment with the foster home. Our puppies and kittens are not adopted until they are spayed/neutered at the age of 12 weeks. The mixes listed on this site are our best guess - no breed is guaranteed as we do not know the history of these rescue pets.

Most fosters surround the area of Elgin IL. Since we work with fosters, meet and greets must be arranged beforehand!

More about this rescue

A Little R & R is happy to join the animal-loving community to help make a difference in the lives of pets both locally and internationally. The ultimate goal of A Little R & R is to have a facility to offer sanctuary to those pets that have been forgotten - perhaps less adoptable, not as cute, getting older, passed around too many homes - they will find peace with us.

While we work towards this goal, A Little R & R is operating as a small foster-network rescue with the ability to pull pets from high-kill shelters, foster, and adopt to verified individuals. Creating a foster network, rescuing, and adoptions will always be part of A Little R & R's mission.
