My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**PLEASE BE SURE YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT WHEN REQUESTING AN APPLICATION**
UPDATE 2-13-25: "My foster Mom is happy to report that I am doing great! I went to the Vet yesterday, and had my 2nd DAPP booster, so now, all my vaccines are good for a year! Also, I was just neutered and microchipped on March13th. I am doing great with all sizes of dogs, and I did really good walking around PetSmart the other day -- so many wonderful smells there, I had a really good time! My leash skills have improved greatly, but I still have a little brushing up yet for them to be perfect, but foster Mom is so proud of me!"
1-18-25 "Hi everyone, BUCK here, and thanks for stoppin' to read about me!! Let's start with my basics: I am a Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever/Pointer mix, weighing in at 29 pounds, and just turned 1 year old on Feb 14th. I am great with the other dogs in my foster home, love being outside to play and explore! My foster Mom says I am extremely friendly, loving and THRIVE on your attention!! In my previous life, I was allowed to run loose, so a fence would be best for me, if you have one! I have had my vaccines, along with a heartworm test, which I am NEGATIVE. I received my 2nd DAPP booster on Feb. 13th. My neuter is scheduled for early March, and that is included in my adoption fee, of course. In my previous home, they loved me, but I was not given any type of training, so right now, my manners and leash are a work in progress. I can tell you my crate is always clean and dry!! If you are interested in meeting me, I can tell you I will not get any larger, by the way, and I do look larger in my pictures than I really am. I look forward to meeting you soon!! If you'd like to meet me, just email us at citizens4animals@yahoo.com and my Foster Mom will send you an application!!"

Additional adoption info

We ask all potential adopters to fill out an application for adoption which is sent to them as soon as an inquiry is received. The application is reviewed, and the applicant's vet reference is checked by phone. If the applicant does not have a good vet record, the application is denied. If the applicant is renting a home, we ask for his landlord's name and phone # and check to make certain the applicant is allowed to have a pet. If there are any concerns regarding the application, we bring them to the applicant's attention and ask for clarification. This is done before the applicant meets the pet. We then set up a meeting at a mutually convenient time and place. If the applicant wants the pet, we ask for a check made payable to CFAW at the time the applicant takes the pet. The adoption donation is held for 3-5 days during which the potential adopter can decide whether (or not) he wants to permanently adopt the pet. If he decides not to adopt and returns the pet to us, his check is returned at that time. There is also a Pet Adoption Contract which basically states that the adopter will take good care of the pet. This is signed by both parties.
