Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Oh my, just look at that adorable face! Cinnibar is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 33 pounds.
Cinnibar is a gentle and insecure pup who is in need of a patient family to help guide him. Some humans were not nice to this sweet boy. He has a very submissive nature and tends to pancake his body to the floor when he is unsure, poor muffin. Yet we wonder, how can he be the sweetest soul with so much love to give someone. A leader to rely on will be crucial for him to blossom into the confident dog we know he can be. Cinnibar is such an affectionate, tender hearted, loving baby who just needs a chance. What a dream it would be if he could find a kind family to love him forever. He does need a home where any children are at least 8 years old with his shy nature.
If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Cinnibar would love to meet them. He has an “all in” excited approach with other dogs. Another dog in the home may help with his confidence building.
One of our wonderful volunteers took him for an overnight stay and here are some of the wonderful things she had to say:
I had a sleepover with Cinnabar over the weekend. He has very kind and soulful eyes, which match his personality. This guy has no reason to trust or like humans after the way he's been treated in the past, yet he doesn't hold it against us and seeks our attention, affection and guidance. I was surprised by how playful and fun he was, he's come a long way from the scared dog who pancaked to the ground in fear (it still happens, but not nearly as often). Cinnabar is a huge fan of walks and is great at them, he doesn't pull the leash, and has interest but no reactivity when people and other dogs pass by. He does jump up when excited but is easily redirected, he knows sit, and almost has down mastered. In the 24 hours that I had him all his potties were outside, zero in the house, I was so impressed! He was nervous getting into the truck, but once inside he was the perfect passenger. The preferred home for Cinnabar is one without young children - not because he has any meanness in him - but due to his insecurity and needing to build confidence before he can be around a lot of activity and noise. He's good with other dogs and may benefit from a doggie sibling to show him the ropes. Once Cinnabar comes completely out of his shell, he's going to be one of the best dogs ever. Oh, and one last thing, he has super soft fluffy fur like a snuggly teddy bear.
If you are interested in Cinnibar and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend!
*Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
