My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet St. Nick – The Dog with Ears Big Enough to Hear Your Thoughts! St. Nick isn’t just a holiday miracle—he’s a year-round gift of love, loyalty, and larger-than-life ears. This 4 month old black house hippo started his journey in a North Carolina shelter before making his way to AAHA. He’s had a bit of a bumpy road, being returned three times due to separation anxiety, but let’s be real—can you blame him? He just loves his people that much! Nick is a certified Velcro dog, sticking closer than your shadow and ensuring you never go to the bathroom alone again. His ears? Iconic. They pick up frequencies from space, neighborhood gossip, and the sound of a treat bag opening three houses away. His heart? Even bigger. He’s looking for a home where he’ll never have to worry about goodbyes—just belly rubs, adventures, and maybe a stylish wardrobe to match his debonair charm. If you’re looking for a sidekick who will adore you endlessly (and possibly intercept radio signals with his ears), St. Nick is your guy!April 14, 2025, 12:30 pm

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
