Meet Max, a sweet, gentle senior boy with a heart full of love!
Max recently lost his owner, and while his family couldn’t take him in, he found his way to rescue where he’s being cared for. We couldn’t bear the thought of him ending up in a shelter after losing the only home he knew.
Max is an absolute gem when it comes to getting along with others. He’s perfectly happy hanging out with dogs his size and totally ignores cats. He’s great with children over 5, making him a perfect companion for a family who can offer him the love and attention he deserves.
This little guy is leash trained and does well in the car—making outings with him a breeze!
Max’s favorite pastime, though? Being a lap dog. He’s always ready to snuggle and will gently paw at you if you stop petting him.
He’s house trained to a doggy door and has free reign of the house in his current foster home, so we’re not sure about his thoughts on crates, but he’s been a perfect gentleman without one.
Max would do best in a low-key home where he can enjoy a lap, lounging and soaking up all the love. This adorable senior boy just wants to be by your side, giving and receiving affection.
If you’re looking for a sweet, low-energy companion who loves nothing more than cuddling, Max is your guy!

More about this rescue
PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.
Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
