My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh my heck is this boy such a hambone! The first thing I noticed about Sharky and what we all fell in love with are those massive ears! How stinking cute are they! Obviously there are way more things that make Sharky special but we just had to make a special shout out for those famous ears of his. I joke around that he's going to steal your girlfriend or if you're a single guy, he's going to be the perfect wingman because of how adorable he is. He has the type of face that makes you almost get that uncontrollable urge to squeeze his squishy little face, as if his cuteness is too much for your heart to handle --- like your love for him is just bursting out in an adorable, squishy explosion! That's what it's like when you meet Sharky. You know it's ridiculous, but you just can't help it. Looks aside, Sharky is such a happy guy! Honestly, his name should be Happy Gilmore because there is nothing in this world that can rain on his parade. His foster’s actually say that his happiness is one of their favorite things about him and they love his happy wiggles.

Watch his video and see for yourself all the reasons why he is perfect for you: https://youtu.be/gIDLNAy2E-I

Sharky is a pittie mix approximately a year old and currently weighs 55 lbs and is full grown! He is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. We do know that Sharky will bring so much joy and happiness to your life.

Sharky absolutely adores people, loves everyone he meets, and truly believes he is a lap dog. He loves to sploot on the couch, sprawling himself across several people like he’s trying to be your own personal weighted blanket. His foster’s rave about his perfectly balanced energy. He is as energetic as you want him to be, making him the best of both worlds. If you’re feeling lazy or if the weather isn’t super nice keeping you inside all day, Sharky will be happy to snuggle with you in bed or on the couch while you binge your favorite show or movie marathon. Even if you want to sleep in, Sharky will sleep all morning until you’re ready to get the day started. His foster’s say that he will even fall asleep in the crook of your arm, on your chest, or by your feet. We do believe that one of Sharky’s love languages is physical touch HAHA.

When it’s time for an adventure, Sharky is all in! He enjoys car rides, loads right up into the car, and loves to look out the window watching everything around him. Sharky is a great hiking companion that loves to go on all adventures, explore new trails and sniff all the spots. He currently goes on 1-2 walks a day throughout the neighborhood with his fosters and then enjoys a game of fetch afterwards. After all of that excitement, Sharky is ready for a nice long nap! He is potty trained and crate trained and happily goes into his kennel when his foster need to leave him, whether it’s for 5 minutes or several hours with no issues. He is very smart and treat motivated and some of his favorite treats include - celery, Milkbones, bacon flavored dog ice cream, frozen baby food, and even ice cubes. Sharky loves to please and already knows some basic commands such as sit and he knows how to shake! He will be a fun and easy guy to do any additional training with and training will be a really great bonding opportunity as well.

Other than treats and snuggles, the other way to Sharky’s heart is through toys! He loves to play with toys, especially a game of fetch in the backyard. Some of his favorite toys include stuffy toys with squeakers (he makes it his personal mission to get the squeakers out), rope toys for tug of war and of course, his favorite, tennis balls. He even understands the term “drop” and always drops his toys (sometimes after a few commands) and is ready for you to throw his toy again. On walks, Sharky is known for taking his ball with him like he's strutting his stuff around the neighborhood showing off his ball. He secretly wishes that he will get his very own toy basket filled with all of his favorite toys at his forever home.

Sharky is dog friendly, does great on walks when he sees other dogs, and once he is comfortable has a playful side to him. He would do best in a home with an aloof submissive female that will play occasionally and also enjoys those calmer moments as well. Sharky loves to tandem walk when meeting a new dog, creating a bond together first. He appreciates when other dogs are not overly pushy with their playstyle and allow him to take the first step. If you don’t have other dogs, that’s fine too! Sharky does not need the company of another dog to help him feel comfortable or to keep him entertained. He is a confident and happy go lucky guy all on his own and would love to be the center of your attention. Sharky would also do best in a kitty free home.

Sharky is great with kids and is currently being fostered with an 8 year old and 11 year old. His favorite kid to play with and the one that he gravitates towards the most is the 11 year old. They play fetch together in the backyard, snuggle on the couch together, and Sharky loves every bit of it. He also does well with the 11 year old’s friends that are around the same age that come over for visits. We do believe that he would do best living in a home with kids ages 10 and older. He can sometimes accidentally knock down smaller kids and his dream of being a lap dog also extends to tiny human laps and Sharky is a little too big to be a lap dog for the smaller humans. If you have friends that have smaller children that come to visit, Sharky will be totally fine with that. We would love to see Sharky adopted out to a home with a backyard where he can sunbathe, chase squirrels, play fetch, and just enjoy the fresh air.

We are willing to test Sharky with anything you need us to in order to ensure it’s a perfect match for you. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:
● Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family
● Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
