Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Once upon a time, there was a sweet PitBull puppy. She must have had a home, because she knew how to manage stairs, walk nicely on a leash, and that her business gets done outside; and more than anything, she loved people. One day, she found herself outside with her human not around. Days turned into weeks, into months, and nobody gave her any food. She became very very thin (such that her vertebra poked out of her back) except for her belly, because it was full of puppies! Being alone, pregnant, weak, and scared, she learned she had to protect herself, her food, and any possessions from other mean dogs. Shortly before the puppies were born some humans got her into rescue and then a foster home. Most of the puppies didn't survive, but for the last two months she was able to raise the last puppy in a home where she got lots of food, love, attention, and some training. Now she just needs you to complete her story!
The foster mom reports that Stashy is an absolute love sponge! She wants to be near you and in your lap and in your face (but we're working on that one). A low energy couch potato, except for zoomies outside, she needs of a lot of reassurance and clear boundaries but listens very well. She has no aggression towards people, but is very fearful in interactions with other dogs. She would like to be friends with them, but if she feels threatened will respond aggressively. If she had a housemate, it would have to be a very laid back, neutral aura dog. She would make a nice dog for a family with kids 6 and older, preferably one that has lots of attention to give her and lets her sleep touching you at night, maybe even under the covers of the bed!
All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at https://www.sftsrescue.org/adoptable-dogs
