My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Another one of our Criminal Minds bunch, meet Tara Lewis. This sweet girl was dumped in south Houston due to no fault of her own. Upon getting her checked for a chip (which there was none), the vet determined she had pretty severe heartworms, likely why she was abandoned. We started her on treatment immediately and are hopeful that she will make full recovery. She is potty trained, good with all animals and people. She knows sit, stay, shake, etc. She is the perfect family dog anyone could ask for. Please show her not all humans will abandon her!To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.

Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.

More about this rescue

Long Way Home was created to provide the last stop for animals displaced from their homes, deemed "unadoptable" by other rescues, or that need a level of care their previous owners or other shelters are unable or unwilling to provide.
