We must have an application to move forward.

In foster in Puyallup, WA

HONEY was saved from the San Antonio ACS euthanasia list in December 2024.The shelter had stated she was 10 months of age. However, on her paperwork, she is listed as a 3yr old (DOB 12/20/21) female Shepherd type mix, but she may very likely be younger (we just don't know). Our best guess is that she is part German Shepherd, possibly mixed with Red Heeler (see the spots on her feet). She has absolutely gorgeous markings with the softest fur. She currently weighs 37 lbs and is likely fully grown. She is high energy and loves to run. She would do best in a home with a fenced yard; we would not recommend an apartment for her. She is confident, smart and responsive. She is easy to train as she is eager to please. She loves attention and belly rubs! She is working on learning basic commands (sit, stay, leave it) and loves to play fetch with a ball. She is learning to walk on a leash, but will need more training. She sleeps through the night in her crate.

Honey will be a great match for an active family. She could keep up on hikes and loves to be outside. She seems happy to meet all people, but she does jump up when excited so we have not had her around small children. She has done well meeting other dogs off leash, but with her high energy, sometimes her enthusiasm is a lot! She loves to wrestle and play with her foster brother, but will need more socialization to learn to control her enthusiasm

In TX, Honey was curious about cats and mostly not interested, but if one would run, she would chase. In WA, she has shown a strong prey drive for birds/rabbits/squirrels in the yard, so her foster family would be hesitant to place her in a home with cats.

More about this rescue

We used to call ourselves Shayne's Rescue as we used to rescue dogs. Now, we are Shayne's Fosters as we foster TX rescue pups & dogs.. We assist several TX rescuers where shelters kill 80-99% of what comes in besides the millions and millions of strays on the streets. Hence, we foster for TX rescues who do impeccable jobs of vetting, quarantine all of their pups/dogs and send up the best dogs we have ever met. All have a health certificate prior to transport (vet visit). We work super hard volunteering and we can always use more assistance from volunteers!

Please do apply. We have so many dogs and puppies available.
This application we always see, for our long term partner Pet Central SATX Rescue.
