My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mateo – Your Loyal, Loving Companion!

Mateo is an 80-pound dream dog who spent nine months in a loud, overwhelming shelter with over 100 other dogs. Because of that, he’s a little cautious at first, but underneath is the sweetest, most devoted soul just waiting for his person or family to love.

In just seven days, we’ve already formed a strong bond—he looks to me for guidance and comfort, proving how loyal and connected he wants to be. He just needs a little patience to feel safe, and once he does, his heart is all yours.

This boy is an absolute dream—completely potty trained with zero accidents! He’s still not a fan of the crate, but he knows his designated blanket by my bed is his safe space. When he needs some alone time, he’ll go there on his own. Mateo loves walks and is calm around other dogs, though he does get tempted to chase bunnies along the way.

Mateo is ready to be someone’s best friend, adventure buddy, and loyal protector. Could that be you?
To apply to adopt Mateo, please go to www.Pawsfurrecovery.org to fill out an application and we will contact you. Please make sure if you have other pets that they are all up-to-date on shots and spayed or neutered. We also require a home check for all potential adopters. Mateo looks forward to meeting you!
The adoption fee for this sweet boy is $250. He is up-to-date on all shots, heartworm, negative, and neutered. He has been dewormed and he has no behavioral issues all he needs now is you!

Additional adoption info

Thank you for considering the adoption of a rescue. Before you decide to adopt a pet, please consider the effort and funds necessary to properly maintain an animal. Responsible pet ownership requires a commitment to provide care and companionship for the life of the animal. The decision to adopt a pet is an important one. In order to ensure that you and your pet will be happy for years to come, we need to take time to discuss your animal and your individual needs and personality traits. Please take a few moments to carefully read and complete this questionnaire. Please note there are no wrong answers, but honesty is the best answer for all involved. This is to ensure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you and your family.

Please note: Completion of this application does not guarantee adoption. If you do not own your own home - Paws Fur Recovery will need to contact your landlord or HOA to verify that you are allowed to have pets. We will also need to perform an in-person house check to verify that your home is suitable for pets (enough space, fenced in yard, etc). We will need to meet all residents of your home, including any adults, children, pets both inside & out - to make sure your home is suitable for the dog you are seeking to adopt. This is not an exhaustive list of requirements. Every dog's situation is different and every adoption will be handled on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of a Paws Fur Recovery representative.
