Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Petrie is a sweet, quiet Dogo Argentino/Pit mix puppy who has already shown the world how strong and resilient he truly is. Much like his namesake from The Land Before Time, Petrie is kind-hearted and gentle, though a little more cautious and shy when it comes to new experiences. When he first arrived at his foster home, Petrie was unsure about jumping off the raised dog bed in the pen. But after watching his siblings hop right down, Petrie found his courage and leaped into action, proving that bravery comes in its own time.
Petrie’s journey to bravery has been anything but easy. He’s a true survivor, having endured the hardship of being locked in a basement with his mother and siblings, left to starve. Even after all of that, Petrie survived the dangerous parvo virus. Though he’s still learning to trust his own strength, Petrie always follows in the footsteps of his bolder siblings, eager to take part in the fun, even if he’s a little hesitant at first.
Petrie’s gentle nature and tender heart make him an incredibly loving pup, always looking for the support of those around him. He may panic when faced with something new or scary, but with patience and encouragement, Petrie’s bravery shines through more each day. Like Petrie in the movie, he admires those who are strong and brave, and he’s ready to learn and grow alongside a loving family.
If you’re looking for a sweet, sensitive puppy with a lot of potential and a heart full of love, Petrie is the one for you! He’ll be ready to start his new adventure with you on March 24th. With the right support, Petrie will blossom into the brave companion you’ve been searching for!
Petrie adoption fee is $425 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations appropriate at the time of adoption, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care.
We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website www.northernlakesrescue.org

More about this rescue
Our Vision is to be a voice for those who are voiceless. We hear them with our hearts and give them a voice. Looking into the eyes of a rescued animal will speak volumes; watching those eyes light up will have an everlasting impact on you and the rescued animals.
We aren’t a typical rescue as we don’t take in dogs and put them in kennels until they’re adopted. All dogs we rescue are placed in loving foster homes that teach them to be the best dog they can be.
Our journey doesn’t end with adoption, either. We are here for you to support you in integrating your new member into your home, cheer new triumphs, and help with struggles.
