My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Roxie. Roxie joined the NorCal family when she was found on the streets in Richmond by a Good Samaritan. She was matted and filthy dirty. The Good Samaritan immediately had her groomed, took her to the Vet and agreed to foster her.

If you’re looking for a loving companion to bring some joy into your life, meet Roxie! She was found as a stray but has adapted well to her current living situation in a foster home. Roxie is the most mellow and laid-back dog. She loves to cuddle and take naps with her caregivers, and enjoys having her tummy scratched. She gets along well with other dogs, cats, and humans, including children. She has endeared herself to everyone she has met with her affectionate nature. Whenever she meets another dog, she is always friendly and wanting to play or just say hello. She’s not aggressive, does not bark or growl. She can be startled by a sudden loud noise.

Roxie is enthusiastic about going on walks (2x per day and sometimes a short stroll before bedtime). She has no problem with walking on leash and is fine with riding in a car. She still has a lot of “puppy” energy. She also loves to dance with you (on her hind legs), and has the charming ability to balance and walk backwards on her hind legs. She’ll love to hang out with you if you’re gardening or working in the yard.

She eats well, is not picky about her food and of course loves to get treats! She’s been very compliant in being treated for an ear infection and was very cooperative at her veterinary exam. Roxie is in good health. However, she has been neglected in her past life and therefore her teeth are in bad shape. She will be having her teeth cleaned soon, as well as getting spayed.

Roxie is not completely housebroken. She seems to be improving, but still has accidents in the house. Whoever adopts her should have the patience and time to work with her on potty training.

The most important thing for Roxie is having a lot of love and stability. She does not like to be alone for very long, and is super affectionate. She will make a wonderful companion for anyone who is willing to give her lots of love and care, and in return she will bring sunshine and smiles into your life.
