My Journey
Hi, I’m Jjanggu! I’m a one-year-old Jindo mix with a bright white coat and an even brighter personality. Weighing 16kg (35lb), I am friendly, playful, and always ready to make new friends. My journey hasn’t been easy—I was rescued from a shelter where I was placed on the euthanasia list after months without any adoption inquiries. Luckily, kind-hearted people saved me just in time. Though I had to spend extra time in the hospital recovering from canine coronavirus, I’m now healthy and eager to find my forever home.
My Personality
I am one of the happiest and most affectionate dogs you’ll ever meet. I love people—whether they are familiar faces or strangers, I will eagerly approach, lean in for pets, and even roll onto my back for belly rubs. When I get excited, I like to jump up and gently place my paws on people to ask for attention. If I really like you, I might even wiggle between your legs to show my affection. Even though I have moments of playful excitement, I am also incredibly laid-back. If I’m tired, I can flop down and rest just about anywhere, whether it’s on the floor, outside on the grass, or even in the middle of a walk.
Social Skills
I love meeting other dogs and always approach them with a friendly and playful attitude. I enjoy saying hello to new canine friends, though my playfulness depends on my energy level at the time. I haven’t met any cats yet, so my reaction to them is unknown.
Energy and Activities
I have a moderate energy level. I get bursts of excitement where I play, explore, and run around, but I also tire out quickly and love to relax. If I overexert myself, I will simply lie down wherever I am and take a break. During walks, I get excited and may pull on the leash a little, but I listen well to my handler and adjust my pace as needed. I do need supervision outside, as I tend to drink from puddles and standing water if not guided away. I get carsick and experience motion sickness, so car rides might not be my favorite thing. If traveling, it’s best to make sure I have an empty stomach before getting in the car.
Training and Habits
I am food-motivated and have no issues with resource guarding. I share my food well with people and other dogs. However, I tend to drink water too quickly, which can sometimes lead to me throwing up if I run around right after. Monitoring my water intake and giving me breaks after drinking will help with this. I don’t bark much, making me a quiet and easygoing companion.
My Ideal Home
I would do well in a home that enjoys affectionate and social dogs. Since I love people so much, I would be happiest with a family that enjoys cuddles and interactive playtime. I do well with other dogs, so a home with a friendly canine sibling would be great, but I would also be happy as the only dog as long as I get plenty of attention. My new family should be patient when it comes to my enthusiastic greetings—I might jump up for attention, but I can learn proper manners with gentle training. They should also be mindful of my tendency to drink water too quickly and ensure I take breaks to prevent an upset stomach.
Special Notes
I am an incredibly friendly and affectionate dog who will bring endless joy to my forever home. My goofy and carefree personality makes me a delight to be around. I thrive on love and human connection, and I’m ready to give my future family all the affection in the world. If you’re looking for a happy, loving, and easygoing dog, I might be the perfect match for you!
