Meet Potato – The Sunbathing, Zoomie-Loving Hound Mix!

Looking for a goofy, affectionate companion who will brighten your days? Potato is your guy! At just 15 weeks old and weighing around 20 pounds, Potato is a young hound mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit.

Personality: True to his name, Potato loves lounging in the sun and turning into a total couch potato when it’s time to relax. But don’t let his chill nature fool you—Potato gets the puppy zoomies and is all about WWE-style playtime with his foster brother. When he's not playing, you’ll find him giving sweet kisses and cuddles. He's affectionate, friendly, and ready to be your best buddy!

Training & Behavior: Potato is well on his way to being a well-mannered pup. He knows basic commands like "sit," and he’s working on his crate training and bell training for potty breaks—he’s had no accidents with timely breaks. Potato has a little bit of energy to burn, so he's looking for someone to continue his training and socialization. His love for crocs and rain boots is legendary, and he’s very eager to explore new things with his humans.

Health & Care: Potato is in excellent health, with no known health issues. He’s been on a great diet of American Journey salmon and sweet potato and is currently on a regular flea and heartworm preventative.

Leash & Walks: While Potato enjoys walks and has done well at events, he still needs a little bit of work on his leash manners at home. He’ll need a patient adopter who can help him fine-tune his walking skills.

Ideal Home: Potato will thrive in a home with someone who can provide him with training, exercise, and lots of love. He's great with other dogs and kids, so he’d be a perfect fit for a family or an active individual. He’s eager to explore the outdoors and would love someone who enjoys hiking, walks in the woods, and outdoor adventures. While he hasn’t been around cats, he’s generally friendly and playful with other dogs and people, so a slow introduction would be ideal.

If you're ready to welcome a goofy, lovable hound mix into your life, Potato could be the perfect fit! Come meet him and let his sweet personality steal your heart!

More about this rescue

The London Sanctuary (TLS) focuses on providing a safe haven for elderly and unwanted Beagles and Hound Dogs, as well as other at-risk, large to medium-sized breeds, as space and funds permit. Special consideration is given to hounds of all types, which are also greatly at risk in northeast Florida.

• TLS rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes as many dogs from area shelters as possible. Our priority is to save dogs most at-risk of euthanasia in shelter facilities.
• TLS attempts to place dogs through online pet-listing services and forums, and social media.
• TLS thoroughly screens prospective owners with home and veterinary reference checks.
• TLS houses a limited number of dogs as care-for-life dogs that cannot be placed either due to age and/or medical conditions.
• TLS provides ongoing support and education to all adopters.
• TLS spays/neuters and gives required immunizations and necessary medical treatment to all dogs prior to placement.
