Meet Hippo – Sweet, Smart, and Ready for Her Forever Home!

Hippo is a lovable, loyal pup who came to us with her sister, Elephant. Born about 7.4.24 and weighs about 40–45 pounds—an ideal size for adventures and snuggles alike!

This beautiful girl has striking green eyes and a heart full of affection. She’s food-motivated, loves toys, and is highly trainable—making her a great candidate for learning new tricks and routines. We’re currently working on her leash manners, and she’s picking things up quickly!

Hippo enjoys the company of other dogs and tends to do best with dogs her size or larger. She has shown a bit of prey drive with small dogs, especially when they’re running, so slow, structured introductions are best.

We’re not sure how she does with livestock, cats, or kids under 15, but we do believe she’s a pit blend with loads of potential.

If you’re looking for a bright, loving, and playful companion to grow with, Hippo could be the perfect match for you!

Spayed/Neuiterd, micro chipped, heartworm negative (if of age), dhpp shots, kennel cough vacs., and one year rabies is completed. Adoption fee is $200

We are NOT a first-come-first to adopt a rescue, the best fit for the family and dog is the way we do things. We do out of town adoptions often, but will not ship animals must come to Redding for pick up.

Tails of Rescue in Kahoots is a volunteer based, non profit, 501c3 organization that literally saves dogs and cats from shelters euthanasia list. We pull animals from our local shelters we to try to reduce the number of unwanted animals locally. Tails of Rescue in Kahoots is a shelterless rescue (foster based), but animals are in the store daily. We rely on the generosity of our volunteers and foster families to provide short- and long-term care and rehabilitation for our rescues until they can be placed with their forever families.

Our shelter operates solely on your generous donations and the proceeds from in Kahoots. Please consider helping our cause. 100% of your donation will provide food, supplies, and medical care. We don't have any paid employees, only amazing volunteers!
