Darla - Your Future Best Friend Awaits!

Darla's journey to us is a mystery-found as a lost dog, we don't know where she came from, but we do know she's ready to start fresh with a loving family! At 3 years old and 55lbs, Darla is the perfect size for both cuddle sessions and outdoor adventures.

This sweet, affectionate girl has quickly become a staff favorite with her gentle nature and love for smooches! Whether she's leaning in for pets or giving out kisses, Darla's goal in life seems to be making people smile. While we're still learning more about her likes and dislikes, one thing is certain-she's got a heart as big as her personality!

Individuals wishing to adopt an animal from our shelter must complete an adoption application and provide proof of home ownership or, if you are a renter, you must provide a copy of your lease or a notarized letter from your landlord stating pets are permitted. You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt any animal from our shelter. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption. In some instances, a home visit may be required. Our fees vary depending on the age and breed of the animal. Typically, a mix breed is $110.00 and a purebreed is $150.00 and up. There is also an altering charge of $85.00 for a male and $95.00 for a female. All animals receive vaccines, microchip identification, frontline treatments.

We are opened 7 days a week between the hours of 12:00-5:00pm for adoptions. No appt is necessary and we welcome prospective adopters to bring their current pet for a meet and greet with one of our orphans.

Associated Humane Societies, Inc is the largest humane society in the State of NJ comprised of three Animal Care Centers, two Veterinary Hospitals and our rescue zoo Popcorn Park. The Newark Branch of the Associated Humane Societies provides the following services including animal control, animal surrenders & adoptions, cruelty investigations, educational outreach & low cost spay/neuter services in our stationary clinic, as well as our Mobile Spay/Neuter Unit.
