My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Cardy! I am a sweet, intelligent, playful pup who will make a wonderful  addition to any home. I am a gentle soul who is very smart, curious, and playful. And I am especially eager to please, easy to train—I am equally food and praise motivated!—and excited to keep learning new tricks and commands every day. I have the sweetest, melt-your-heart eyes—almost grey/brown in color, the softest most gorgeous fur (no-to-low shed), and the biggest, purest heart.

I warmed up so quickly to my new home with my foster brother: I was immediately open, trusting, and affectionate with my foster parents and I love playing with my (smaller!) foster brother. I am potty-trained (indoor/on pads for now), and command training is a fun and exciting way for me to get both praise and treats. After chewing on a toy, playing tug of war, or fetch, I am quick to curl up with my fosters for the coziest nap you could possibly imagine. My fosters also tell me I have impossibly perfect ears and the spirit of an explorer! I am an energetic pup, but burn through that quickly and always need to nap after. Having some energy also makes me the perfect companion for long walks, hikes, or playing fetch (I am new to tennis balls and loving them!).
Personality & Characteristics: I will likely be on the perfect medium-to-low side of large dog when full grown. I am a goofy, energetic, and intelligent pup with a big heart and endearingly sweet personality. I love playtime and naps equally, and am always excited for whatever is next—I'm known to hop in showers with my foster mom, just cause it seems interesting!
My foster dog is good with: Dogs; untested with kids, cats, but don't anticipate either being an issue! I'm very trainable and very gentle in spirit!
My foster dog is: We are working on crate and house training (we're still indoor only, but Cardy never misses the pee pad).
3 Keywords for your pup: intelligent, eager, affectionate
Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 7, but tires quickly!
Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Only little woofs when my human surprise reenters through the door, or I hear a noise I'm not familiar with! Occasional gentle conversation, too; if I'm extra chatty or a toy is stuck under the dresser. Mostly quiet.
Walking Manners: TBD!
Appetite: Cardy is an eager and enthusiastic eater! He loves treats and is very excitable around meal time, but will sit quietly and wait for bowl to be prepared (no begging). I arrived from shelter underweight, so there was some food insecurity that I'm very quickly working through.
I had some slight separation anxiety, but have gotten so much better in only a short time.
Favorite Things: Treats, praise, snuggling, jumping, playing!
Commands/Tricks: Incredibly good start to sit and recall. Very trainable, food motivated, eager to please and SMART! Will quickly learn stay, drop, down and off on command.

ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs.

Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea.
