These little cutie pies (Rose & Hoss) were brought to the HSOV on February 13, 2025 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden and have been entrusted to our care for the past four weeks or so. They were surrendered to our shelter recently and are ready to find a new home (together) as a bonded pair.
Rose is a beautiful 7-year old female Terrier mix. She has a sleek mahogany/black short smooth coat with a large white bib on her chest, white 'anklets' on her paws/legs, a tiny short tail, and a lovely face with dark brown eyes, a frosty white slender muzzle, and large erect ears. Rose weighs 19 lbs.
Hoss is a handsome 2-year old male Terrier (possibly Jack Russell Terrier) mix. He has a brown-and-white short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with expressive brown eyes, a long slender muzzle, and short floppy ears. Hoss weighs 22.6 lbs.
These photos were taken on March 9th, 2025 when HSOV Kennel Tech Emma Dahlgren accompanied Rose and Hoss for their outdoor photo sessions. Both of these little sweethearts wanted only one thing ... and that was loving attention from Emma. They kept putting their cute little paws on her and looking up with hopeful eyes to politely ask for attention (and to be carried in her arms) ... And naturally it worked like a charm.
Rose and Hoss have sweet dispositions but aren't enthused about being in small floor crates instead of a spacious home (and who could blame them). Please don't judge their behavior in their floor crates. They have a lot to talk about when you first meet them and converse in the only way they know how (bark, bark, bark) ... But they are totally different pups when they are outside those crates.
Rose and Hoss will be spayed/neutered before being officially adopted by their new family.
Update: Rose and Hoss went home with a foster family on March 15, 2025 who plans to adopt them after they are spayed/neutered.
Rose and Hoss were returned to the shelter on March 21, 2025 because Rose was not being nice to a grandchild in the home. So Rose and Hoss are available to be fostered with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.

Shelter management reviews applications for approval. If approved, potential adopters will be notified.

All HSOV dogs and cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted and going to their new home.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application which must be completed and approved by our shelter management. We verify veterinarian references and also approval from landlords if the pet will be housed in rental property. Home visits may also be required prior to adoption. All dogs/cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted.
Adoption fee for dogs is $150.00 which includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, dog tag, microchip, and spay/neuter.
Adoption fee for cats is $40 and includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, and spay/neuter. Most adult cats (and kittens over 3-months of age) have already been spayed/neutered.
Adoption fees for other species varies.
