My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Rusty and her brother are 5 month old Retreiver/Catahoula mix puppy who will be joining us on 02/23/2025 via our TX partner Saving Shelter Strays. They were found walking down the street together in an area with no houses close by and no one came to the shelter to get them. They are waiting for their freedom ride to the PNW to find their forever homes.

Foster Update: Rusty is a bright, beautiful, and loving puppy. She is so smart and curious about the world. The outdoors is her favorite place to be, even when she's tired, she just wants to take a nap out in the yard (unless it's raining, then she's perfectly happy to be indoors)! She is pretty shy and is working on her confidence outside of her foster home/yard, but she's made great strides, especially when she realized there's stores specifically for dogs that will give her treats when she goes! She also loves other dogs and playing with her foster brothers. She's very smart and can get bored easily, but she learns very quickly, she takes cues from her foster brothers to figure out what she should be doing. She would do best in a home with a fenced in yard that she can explore and relax outside in and a canine companion. We are not considering apartments for her at this time.

Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
