My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Abby!

My heart is lonely, and I am searching for you! I am a young, beautiful girl, who is just 2.5 years old, weighing 34 pounds. I am Shepherd mix, and I must say, I am very pretty. I am searching, with love in my heart and soul, for my forever home.

Everyone who meets me says I am incredibly lovable. I am curious, attentive, and loyal. Some of my favorite things are being outside, taking long walks, going for car rides and napping. I am particularly good at napping. Playing with dogs that are my size or slightly larger is also so much fun for me. That’s when you see who I truly can be. I am sweeter than sugar, and I really mean that. I can also be quiet and chill with you. I am so good in my crate at night, you won’t even know I’m there. I am extremely gentle, I rarely bark, I don’t react when the doorbell rings, I don’t jump on people, and I don’t counter surf. And bonus, I’m housebroken!

I would love to have a loving female adopt me. Someone who can take long walks with me or even bring me to doggy day camp. If you have a dog in your home already, that’s a bonus! If not, that's okay. Oh, did I mention that I walk great on a leash, another bonus! I do prefer a low traffic home. While I love kids, and I am so well behaved around them, it’s best if I don’t actually share a home with them. Patience, understanding, consistency and love are the things I need from you. If you give me time to trust and find comfort with you, then I will be the most perfect companion. I have so much love to give!

Abby’s current foster, her rescue team at Peace4Paws, and her adoption advocate all agree … Abby is truly the sweetest girl! She can be timid and nervous. But if you show her patience and understanding, she will lovingly follow you around and lay down while you’re cooking or even folding the laundry. Abby deserves the absolute best life. She is so easy to love, your heart can’t help but fall for her. Her ideal home is female only, no children, loving, patient and comforting.

More about this rescue

Peace4paws is a 501 (c) 3 non profit public charity centered in Northern New Jersey. Through our foster home system, we are able to support the rehoming and adoption of dogs from kill shelters as well as facilities of research and related fields. Founded in 2007, our initial mission focused on supporting sanctuary and forever homes for animals retired from use in research and related fields. In the past few years we have broadened our scope of rescue. We continue to help our own retired research animals and independent sanctuaries but also save shelter dogs. We are able to do this work through the efforts of our volunteer network and generous donors. Please see our website or facebook page "Peace4Paws" to meet our adoptable dogs, success stories or volunteer opportunities. We organize fundraising events centered around yoga, music, health, or animal friendly activities. We are also involved with student outreach and education. We would love to work with you.
