Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
This helps Chesapeake Humane Society with pet care costs.

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
You've got a friend in me. You've got a friend in me! When the road is rough ahead and you're miles and miles away from your nice warm bed, just remember what your old pal said, boy you've got a friend in me. The character from Toy Story and I have a few things in common, other than sharing a name. One of them is that you've got the best friend you'll ever find, waiting on you in the CHS kennels! I'm looking for my furrever home, and I'm thinking it's in your home with you! If you think I'm a good fit, stop by and meet with me today!

You are welcome to visit the animals in residence with us on a walk-in basis Tuesday through Saturday 12AM to 4PM. Sunday meetings are by appointment only. We are closed on Mondays. Please feel free to call or email for an appointment to meet our adoptable pets.
We pride ourselves on offering one-on-one private adoption counseling. Once you have completed your adoption application (online) an adoption counselor will contact you for a private interview.
Our adoption fees and requirements vary based on each individual animal's needs. We work hand-in-hand with our adoption clients and hand-in-paw with our pets to make the best adoption matches.
In spite of our efforts, we understand that sometimes relationships fail. If at any time an adopter needs assistance with their new family member or finds it necessary to return their companion animal, we will respectfully work with that client to determine the best outcome for the animal.
