🐶 🐕 FORREST Male Border collie mix 9 months, 33 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶
FORREST is a delightful but shy BC mix with a soft, curly black and white coat, medium in length. His front feet have short white socks while his back feet are both tipped in white. He is approximately 9 months of age and 33 pounds. He loves mealtime, but only shows mild motivation for treats. As FORREST gets more comfortable around his people we believe he will be more praise motivated. He also enjoys chewing on bones and toys. You’ll want to keep plenty around as he has been known to steal a shoe or two (no damage, just a collector).
FORREST enjoys couch time but really loves “Walksies.” When he hears the word he pops up and enthusiastically heads for the door. He’ll follow pretty close, occasionally taking lead, but mostly lets the humans lead the way. He really got a boost when he was introduced to our other dogs. They all get along great. He enjoys engaging in “chase the birds high in the sky” with Perkins and Skittles. We just moved him into the dog room and he is really settling in, enjoying the company and the routine. Routine is going to be very important for Forrest’s continued development.
FORREST is reserved around new people and new things, and will do best with positive reinforcement, praise, and confidence building. He is crate trained and sleeps quietly all night. Forrest is doing well with his house training, having been accident free after a couple days of getting used to things. He learned to navigate the doggy door very quickly. He’ll need some leash work (likes to mouth the leash). He did not travel well on his recent trip to the vet (car sickness) but working with him on short fun trips hopefully will get him over that.
FORREST will be ok as an only dog, but would benefit from the company and mentorship of another dog either in the household or nearby for playdates. If you are patient with Forrest we think he will be a loyal cuddle bug who will enjoy the outdoors as much as snuggling inside or just flopping at your feet. If you like cute and not over the top active that some border collies are, FORREST may just be the boy for you and we’d love to hear from you.
FORREST is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about FORREST, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org.
FORREST is fostering north of Corning in Tehama County, CA.
