Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Mr Dickens, he is a Shih Tzu mix and he is likely 13 years old. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and heartworm negative.
Poor Mr Dickens, his mama passed away. He was found by one of her grandchildren in very sad condition. During his vet visit we discovered that he is 95% blind and 90% deaf.
Dickens is a sweetheart who loves quality time, snuggly laps, and car rides. He is a very good communicator and has several types of barks to express his needs. It took his current foster about a week to learn his primary communications:
1) He needs to potty outside, he is trained enough to know that he should not potty in the house.
2) He is thirsty and needs help finding his water bowl.
3) He needs love and wants to know you are nearby. He'll happily settle after being held or cuddled.
Dickens enjoys going on walks and a short daily walk is essential for keeping his muscles healthy.
Mr Dickens gets along with other dogs. While he has not been tested with children, based on his temperament his foster feels he would be fine.

2.
Approve Application
We review applications on a rolling basis. We do a vet, reference, and background check. Then a foster interview.
3.
Meet the Pet
If you are the right fit, you will meet the dog during a home visit. If you have pets, we help facilitate an appropriate meet and greet.
4.
Sign Adoption Contract
Ideally at the end of the home visit you sign the adoption contract, provide your adoption donation, and your 7 day adoption trial starts.

Fawn's Small Dog Rescue is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization based in Florida. We are dedicated to saving lives of forgotten dogs in shelters and rescue other stray, abused, or forgotten dogs in Florida.
Our rescue dogs are placed with caring foster families until we find them a qualified permanent loving home. All our dogs receive complete veterinary care, socialization, compassion, nourishment and rehabilitation while in Fawn's Foster Program.
We believe every dogs broken spirit can be mended. We hope to help educate the public on spay/neutering, controlling pet overpopulation and proper animal care.
